We had snow the other day, twice actually this past week.
The seasons are changing, quickly. I’m really enjoying the change though. On the Island back in BC we didn’t have much of a season change so this is nice. Each season is so full, that the changes are welcome. Summer was busy with travelling, camping, gardening, gardening, more gardening, and lots of work to be done on the homestead before our first winter here.
It feels like just a couple of weeks ago we were still enjoying summer, and now here it is almost winter!
In reality, it was already well over a month ago that the children went swimming for the last time on September 13th when we had our first ‘field trip’ to Good Spirit Lake that first Friday of our first week of school. Since then, we’ve been busy harvesting, splitting wood, putting up fences, and so much more! Time has flown by!
Good Spirit Lake was beautiful and I look forward to going back next summer. The water was sparkling clear! The day was so warm that even I ventured in a little and wished I had brought my bathing suit.
I’m so glad our children, still know how to be children, and have fun! Now that it’s getting closer to winter, it’s time to think about fun in the snow instead of fun in the sun! Over the summer I managed to find two ‘skating rinks’ for us to try. Together, they should make one rink that’ll be 20×40 feet. Not huge, but big enough for some fun right here on the homestead. We’ll need to wait until we know for sure they’ll stay frozen though. Today it’s back to being warm outside and certainly no where near being ready to keep an ice rink frozen!
