Julia, our youngest daughter by 1 minute (she’s a twin), has had a dream she’s been working hard towards, for over 7 years.
Her dream has always been to live on a property where she could have friends over, to ride horses together.
This past autumn, her dream was finally realized when she was able to invite a couple of horse loving friends over to ride some of our horses all around our property!
I’m quite sure I was as thrilled to know she finally had her dream come true, as she was!
It brings me such great joy to see our kids finally reaping the benefits of all the hard work, even blood, sweat, and tears, that they’ve all endured over the past years as we’ve all worked together to realize this dream of having a ‘real’ homestead.
I’ll admit to having some minor anger issues creep up on me any time someone says they are so ‘jealous’ of what we have… if only they knew what we’ve been through, what our children have had to live through, to get to where we are today.
Those who do know, who have been through the years with us, know that our children deserve every bit of what they have today, and then some.
However, whenever that little bit of jealousy tries to creep up within ME, when I see what OTHERS have, that we don’t have, I remind myself of that exact thing. We all travel our paths, and we all have hurdles and hills, and when each of us gets to where we are going, we can look back and see what we’ve been through, where we’ve been, and where we’ve come from.
No one else can look back on our path, and see it with the same clarity that we see it.
Beautiful words and I’m so happy for you that her dreams were realised.
