If you’re on our facebook, or read here, you’ll know that I’m in the process of reorganizing the cabin\/studio on our property to better make use of the space. For the past few years, most everything that isn’t needed every day has been packed away to keep things all organized and pristine looking, “show ready” as we call it.<\/p>\n

Well now that the house is off the market and we no longer need to live “show ready” we’ve unbuttoned the ‘pants’ so to speak and we’ve been taking it easy around here, bringing boxes out of storage and trying to reconfigure things to best fit our life, and lifestyle.<\/p>\n

I’m pretty excited to get the sewing studio underway, and so has begun the destashing of things not needed, to fund things like shelving! EXCITING!<\/p>\n

Well I thought I’d share some of the steps along the way. First, I thought I had found the perfect solution for storage, and for dividing things up a little, with this handy unit from Ikea:<\/p>\n

TWENTY five cubes of space for rolled up fabrics. Over 6 feet high, and 6 feet wide! Perfect I thought!<\/p>\n

Then I found out they don’t ship to our area. *blah* not so perfect anymore.<\/p>\n

So that got my wheels spinning (in my brain, you know?) Maybe I could find something similar, locally. But then I started to ask myself,”Is new and “hip” really the style I want to go with? Is Ikea furniture really “my” style of furniture?”<\/p>\n

Well… not really.
\nWhen I *drool* over sewing rooms\/studios I see online, I drool over rooms like this, Heather Bailey’s studio:<\/p>\n

So my husband suggested that maybe I should just slow down, stop being in such a hurry to buy something quickly, and see if I can’t find something antique\/old that would suit my needs better! I think that’s a great idea, so let the hunting begin!<\/p>\n

While I was looking up old cabinets online, just to take a look at the different images out there, I found this cool idea that I could do with two old crates I have, the idea on the right:<\/p>\n

It’s a bookshelf, made from an old book! Totally cool!<\/p>\n

So that’s the idea’s going on inside this head so far. Tomorrow I’m going to take a look at an old shelving unit my father has (he deals with antiques) and see if it may work for me, but we’re not quite sure because of the way it’s been stored. That’s the only issue with antiques and new fabrics, gotta make sure it’s in good condition! But I think the hunt for just the right cabinet\/shelving unit could be just as fun as the find!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
