It’s very difficult to “run away from home” with a horse trailing behind you. No girl in love with a horse, is going to even consider leaving home when she knows she can not take her horsey with her.

This was advice given to us years ago when we `rescued our first two horses, by someone who had horses all their lives.

It’s very true too. Although, it must not be ALWAYS true because my own mare came to me because a young woman gave her up when she left home. But that’s besides the point.

I`ve had several people ask recently about Julia and her horse Nikki, so I thought I`d share about them, plus some photos from this past spring.

Nikki is the horse Julia adopted almost 5 years ago.

This was them back then.

The two of them love each other, very much.

Julia works very hard helping to take care of Nikki, and, just as she promised, helping to raise funds to pay for Nikki`s care as well. There`s Nikki`s feed, hay, worming medicine, farrier work, and the list goes on. When ever she`s not busy doing something else, rather then be `bored`, she diligently cuts out the cotton balls and mini facial spa kits for the shop. She does a great job on them too and even picks the colors she works with. She has a very mature taste in fabrics and color co-ordination. It does this fabric loving mama`s heart a world of good.

Julia has made good on her promise, and has been a very good horse owner.
I`m sure these two will be spending many more years together! So hard to believe Julia was just six when Nikki became a part of her life and now she`s going to be turning eleven next month!

On this day, they were riding bareback. I’m so proud of my girl. (I haven’t even ridden bareback yet in my life time. lol Shhh….
