Color truly is EVERYWHERE!

On our facebook I asked for everyone’s opinions on what colors they would like to see in the future. I just received my latest FULL roll of bamboo velour (FOURTY SEVEN scrumptious yards!) just waiting for inspiration. Like tens of canvases laid out, awaiting the painters brush, the bamboo velour is waiting to be turned from natural beauty, to COLOR!

Reading all your comments got me thinking about where I get the most inspiration and often times it is from the beauty that surrounds us here on this Island. The ocean, nature, the sky, sunsets, the mountains and more.

Then I got to thinking about how there’s probably tons of inspiration out there that I’m not seeing because it’s in YOUR neighborhood!

Well that got me thinking about how much FUN it would be to see what all of YOU would come up with if you shared your color inspiration photos with ME!

Sooo… I’m going to have a contest, for an awesome prize of a FIFTY DOLLAR ($50.00) gift certificate!!

Now on the one hand, I’m almost scared to run this contest because… well… I feel like there’s going to be all this pressure on me to turn  your photos into beautiful pieces of dyed fabrics and honestly, I’m not sure I’m quite up to that task BUT, I love the idea too much to not do this, so here it is. Just don’t expect perfection from me when it comes to the finished dyed fabrics. LOL Remember, this is to produce inspiration for new colorways, not for me to produce replicas! Ha! (and just so there’s no confusion, I’m only going to be working with color, not actually reproducing photos lol, just claiming colors within the photos as inspiration!)

So here you have it. Share YOUR photos with ME here on the blog. Share a link to your photo in the comments section and you will automatically be entered into the contest. I will also add the photos to a folder in our photo gallery for everyone to browse! Then a random entry will be chosen through random.org as a winner. If we can get LOTS of participation, as usual, I will add more prizes. 🙂

Here’s a couple of examples of inspiration I’ve used in the past from our surroundings to give you an idea of the type of thing I’m looking for, but remember, this is all about you sharing YOUR surroundings and colors within it. 🙂
