We’ve always known that this area has some great mushroom varieties but we’ve been scared to even dare try and figure out what, where and how. Knowing you could get really sick if you ate the WRONG kind of mushroom we knew it wouldn’t be smart to try any until we found someone who knew what they were doing.
This weekend our son went out mushroom picking with a friend and they brought us home about ten pounds of these mushrooms! Tonight we had some fried along with steaks.

I didn’t get a photo of the finished dinner since hubby cooked them on the grill while I was busy sewing.
Tomorrow I’m going to try making homemade cream of mushroom soup!
Ever had wild mushrooms? How do you cook them? They are going out picking again next weekend so I’d love more ideas. 🙂
Mmm, Chanterelle mushrooms are our favorite 🙂 My dad and my oldest boy go picking every fall and they brought home tons of them a couple of weeks back. I dehydrate some of them and the rest of them I chop up and fry with chopped onion. I then portion out how much I would like to use in soups, stews, gravies and so on and then freeze the packages. They freeze perfectly and are ready anytime you want them throughout the year! You can also can them in your pressure canner if you have one but the frying & freezing is SO easy and quick that I do most of them that way 🙂 I’ve been enjoying reading your blog posts as you share them and seeing what you and your lovely family have been up to 🙂
Hugs, Rosina
So great to hear from you Rosina, how are you and your family doing this fall? I popped over to your blog, it’s changed SO much since I’ve last been there. Tsk tsk on my part! Enjoyed reading for quite some time after the kids were in bed! Now I want to get crafty on leaves with the kids! LOL
