How about a question and answer time again! We had one way too long ago and it’s time for another.
Feel free to ask me ANY questions pertaining to;
the homestead, the emporium, our life as a family of 7 & my ramblings about it all
Got cloth questions? Ask away! There’s no such thing as TMI (too much info) around here!
Questions about raising kids? I don’t have all the answers, but I’ll try my best!
Raising teens? We’re certainly not perfect parents but we like our teens and think they’ve turned out pretty great and they get along REALLY well (when they aren’t trying to mutilate one another!)
Questions about sewing, cooking, baking, homesteading? I’m no expert on any of these things but again, I’ll try my best to answer!
How about questions about homeschooling? We’ve been at this since our eldest was in kindergarten and she’s now finished school and has a full time job, so ask away! I’m a bit of a curriculum junkie (more so the different STYLES of curriculum then actual name brands)…
Marriage? We’ve got 20 years under our belts now! And it hasn’t been an easy 20 years either! Ha! If there’s ever advice we can share to help others make it to 20 years and beyond, we’re here!

**I must add… the only questions you can’t ask about is how to balance it all and still keep a clean house. Because that one, I have NOT mastered and I’m no where near mastering it, so for that question, I should be the one asking all of you!

Here’s a cloth question.
How long before you start replacing pads?
I have a pretty good stash, and they’re mostly from you (love them!), but they havent been used much. I built up the stash while nursing my first baby, and used them for about 6 months before I was pregnant with my second. Used them again for post-partum, and now they are sitting in the closet again as I nurse baby #2.
Is there a recommended way to store them? Does sitting unused for a while affect their lifetime? Or do you just replace them when they start looking old or falling apart?

Great question Mel! I know there’s lots of women out there in the same predicament because of nursing and pregnancies and pads waiting around to be used! 🙂
A cloth pad really should be perfectly fine for years in between uses, just as clothing would be. Personally, if I knew my pad stash was going to go unused for a really long period of time, I’d make sure to give it a couple of real good washings, and a real good hot thorough run through the dryer before putting them away. Then I’d probably just store them in a good quality zip lock bag, maybe tossing a scented sachet in the bag for good measure. 🙂
Do you do alot of unschooling or just strictly curriculm? I unschool mostly my 6 but worry about getting everything in.
