Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE nature.

Living here on the prairies in Saskatchewan, I knew my heart and soul would be blessed by the surrounding farm land.

I love being creative, and creativity. Living in the midst of farms where baby animals are seen everywhere, fields of crops are beginning to sprout out of the earth, and all sorts of birds fly through the air, is like living in the midst of… well… creation!

It’s amazing, and breath taking. I feel so blessed to have spent so many years taking in the beauty of the west coast, and now I get to partake in all this!

However, one thing I didn’t realize before moving here was just how much wildlife we would see! I knew there would be some, especially birds, but we’ve seen so much more in just the last 6 weeks.

Like this magnificent moose. I’m sure it’s a female, who’s pregnant. Maybe we’ll see her baby some day. This was just down the road from our home.

Just a few days ago, Elsa came  hollering to Julia outside to get Mommy. Julia came running in the door saying, “Mommy! Come bring your camera, Elsa said she saw a great big mouse!”

I thought, “Lovely, she must have found a rat!” and proceeded to let Julia know I was not interested in photographing any rats, or BIG mice.

Elsa came running to the other door, all out of breath. “MOMMMMMMM!!! Get your camera!! I saw a big MOOSE run down the road!”

lol Julia misheard her, it was a moose, not a mouse.

Ok, for a moose I grabbed my camera. It was too late though, the moose had run into some bush nearby. That should teach me to come the first time I’m called next time!

The same day we spotted the above moose, we also spotted this unhappy looking raccoon.

Time to make sure our dogs rabies shots are up to date I believe? Although this one wasn’t near our home.

Deer are quite abundant here, as they were on Vancouver Island. However, here we have white tail and mule deer.

There are also plenty of fox, coyotes, and wolves. Although I haven’t personally seen any wolves yet. (The last two photos of the deer and fox aren’t so great. I can never seem to catch them with the camera on time!)

One thing I never ever expected to see on the prairies though…

Pelicans!
