This weekend I have a MeLuna menstrual cup to give away!
To learn more about MeLuna cup, you can visit their site here: http://meluna.eu/menstruationsbecher.html

I’ve given away a couple of these on our facebook page already, but the one shown above was actually given to me by MeLuna as a give away for our blog.

They were very generous though, and sent me a BUNCH of cups to try out myself first!
One person can only try out so many cups, so I decided to share the generosity on the facebook page a couple of weeks ago.

The green cup in the give away package is a size medium. This is the typical size a woman, who has given birth, would use.
I want to share with you, my opinion on the MeLuna cup.
First off, one of the two biggest things I liked was that their medium cup, was actually smaller in dimension (around, and length of the actual cup) then the other three menstrual cups I have tried in the past. I’ll be honest and say I’ve never totally been able to find that menstrual cup “love” so many speak of, but the MeLuna has brought me the closest to that love out of the four different brand names I’ve tried.
But, I also want to say that the only reason I’m not going to share the names of the other ones I’ve tried that did not work as well for me is because I don’t feel that the cups themselves had any faults, or negatives. I really believe it’s just like menstrual cloth, one brand will simply fit, or suit, one woman’s needs differently then another brand. For me, I never loved tampons either. I’m not sure why, they just never seemed to fit right or feel completely comfortable. Tampons always caused me to have much worse cramps then pads. I will say, the cups don’t cause cramps for me, but they also don’t feel (for me) like there’s nothing there. Yet I’ve heard many woman have FANTASTIC experiences with menstrual cups and feel like they are using NOTHING. So for that reason, I want to spread the word about menstrual cups.
Not to mention, it’ so much easier when you go swimming etc., and so much healthier then a tampon!

Just for fun, and since I was sent so many cups in all the sizes, I decided to try out each size myself. (*note, all these shown have never been used, these are all brand new).
The cups shown above are:
Black- size small
Purple- size large
Blue- size large
And then then the green shown in the package is the medium. I really should have taken some comparison photos of them all side by side, but I had already sent away the two mediums to facebook fans, and kept one for myself to try. MeLuna actually has a great comparison photo here though: http://meluna.eu/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/k/u/kugel_1.jpg
When trying out all three sizes, I actually found that all three fit quite comfortably! Even the large ones! If someone has a love for a menstrual cup, and has a VERY heavy flow, I highly suggest getting yourself one of these large cups. I don’t actually know if the other companies sell so many sizes, as I normally have only heard of two sizes, pre-birth and post-birth sizes. I think this large size is a fantastic idea because I know SO many of my customers suffer with REALLY heavy flows, and this would be the perfect cup!
When I tried out the small size, I actually really liked it. Personally, I think it’s even a good size for women on their light flow days if they are not worried the cup is going to be ‘too’ small.
Here are the specs on all three sizes, from the MeLuna site.
MeLuna is available in three sizes: S, M and L.
Size S:
Cup diameter: 40 mm, length 40 mm (add 6 mm for ball style, 8 mm for the ring style or 15 mm for the stem)
Cup volume: 10 ml up to the holes, 15 ml up to the top
Size M:
Cup diameter: 45 mm, length 45 mm (add 7 mm for ball style, 10 mm for the ring style or 17 mm for the stem)
Cup volume: 15 ml up to the holes, 21 ml up to the top
Size L:
Cup diameter 45 mm, length 54 mm (add 8 mm for ball style, 14 mm for the ring or 16mm for the stem)
Cup volume: 24 ml up to the holes, 32 ml up to the top
Another difference between this cup, and other cups I’ve tried, is the size of the pin sized air holes along the top of the cup. The MeLuna cup has just slightly larger holes. This is good, in my opinion, for two reasons. First, it allows you to break the suction when removing the cup much easier. And second, you can get the holes cleaned out very easily. If you’ve used menstrual cups in the past, you know what I mean. If you don’t know, you’ll just have to trust that these are good things. 😉
I also love the HUGE array of colors MeLuna offers! If you know me, you know I love color! Just look at the variety!
MeLuna cup has a variety of ‘stems’. I like this option.
MeLuna has also just come out with their new “soft cup” and I was privileged to be the very first woman in Canada to try out this new cup!
I have to say, I do really like it. The cup is VERY soft and was definitely very close to a ‘barely there’ kind of feeling. I do recommend it. I also found their Classic nice as well though, so don’t be scared to try that one! It’s a little firmer, but I found it was still softer then some of the other cups I’ve tried.
MeLuna has a very extensive FAQ on their website, which you can find here: http://meluna.eu/meluna-faq.html#right-size
They also have lots of handy tips on that FAQ page on folding techniques, the material used to create the cup, how long a MeLuna cup will last (5-10 years, that’s a lot of savings!), and MUCH MUCH more!
They also take paypal, which for me, is a must when shopping online!
So there you have it, my opinion on the MeLuna cup! I hope you’ve found it helpful, and I hope you’ll enter for YOUR chance to win this exact MeLuna cup package:

I would love the chance to try a cup! I’ve been thinking about it for some time now as I love mama cloth but can’t choose a brand 🙂
Thanks!
Kirsten
The MeLuna cup has so many pretty colors. Would be interesting to try one…
I tried the DivaCup and the Miacup, and I found the Miacup to be far better. The MeLuna has all the features I love about my Mia (large holes, colored, solid stem, softer material). My Mia is a bit long some days though; that’s my only complaint. I would love to try this and see if a better fit.
Would love one of these, love the colors!
ooo I like it! its actually cute!

I love the cup I use, and would love to win one for my 12 year-old. She will start her cycle soon, and I’m eager to get a stash growing for her to use, and include a lovely new cup for her. =0) *crosses fingers, toes and eyes*
I would love to try a menstrual cup, thanks!
I am also new to the world of “cups” and Mama cloth. I would like to try both in the near future. Winning one would certainly help my budget!
I am looking forward to trying a cup when my cycle returns. Do you know what material this is made of? I am having a hard time finding it on their site.
I would love to try a cup . I adore cloth but sometimes ,like swimming , I need another option.
I have always wanted to try a menstrual cup!! I’ve just always been so wary of spending the money on something I might not like and couldn’t return! I’ve never heard of this company. They sound awesome! Thank you so much for the review and giveaway!
I have tried the Diva Cup and the LadyCup. I’m interested in comparing and seeing how this stacks up!
I shared on my facebook: http://www.facebook.com/morganmcf
I love my Lunette cup and would love to try another!
I’ve always wanted to try one. I’m been reticent because my cycles are so heavy…I wonder if they’d work.
Shared the blog & contest on facebook!!
I have been using a Diva happily for years, but it’s nearing the end of its life and I would LOVE to try another brand. MeLuna has been at the top of my list!
Oh, I so want to try one of these! Thanks for the chance to win. 🙂
i’ve never tried cups before but i’ve always been interested in them. these look great! thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I’d love to try one!
Please enter me, I’d give it a try but I’m not sure if anything can make me give up HE mama cloth. 🙂
Ooh, I would love to try one of the large ones! I’ve currently got a Diva size 1 and will most likely need to “upsize” as I’m pregnant with our first kiddo. Can’t imagine going back to tampons, so itchy and uncomfortable!

I’ve been wanting to try them out for awhile. Guess not my odds are about 1 in 75 for a free one. Here’s to hoping!
I’d love to try this.
Interesting, I might try one of these.
Thanks for the review! I’ve never actually tried a menstual cup, mostly because of the cost, and not being able to decide which one would work best for me. Looks interesting 🙂
These look interesting! I’ve not tried anything of this sort yet. I swapped to Mama Cloth after my first child.
I’d love to try them though and those colors are great!
Great informative post! 🙂 Thanks 🙂
My experience with menstrual cups is very similar to yours. I have not found the love. I have not been able to find one that “feels like nothing’s there”. I am very interested in their soft cup! Thank you so much for the information and review and giveaway!
Great giveaway and thanks for the opportunity to try something new! The different stem styles and colours are very attractive!
I’d love to try a menstrual cup! I heard about them when hubby and I were trying for another baby, and never got the chance to buy one before I got pregnant. I love the fact that we’d save on tampon/pad costs, and avoid putting all that trash into landfills.
would love to try this instead of the diva i have. and i like th colors!
I tried a cup that a different company recommended for women over 30 years old. It is tough to wrangle with, often very leaky and very messy. It is so tough to remove safely or without incident that I am scared to use it anymore. Inspired by your blog, I am willing to try again.
I’d love to win me one. I’m allergic to silicone and the disposable pads or tampons. I’ve been looking into cups and this one just seems to be perfect for me!
I would love to try a menstrual cup I have wanted one for a while especially the meluna ballstem
I want to try one love the colors
enter me to win one
I’d love to try this cup!
